With the sea temperatures now rising and stronger winds starting to blow consistently from the South West there simply isn’t a better time to go kitesurfing.
This three dimensional extreme sport combines the skills of land based
power kiting and board sports such as snowboarding and
wakeboarding. At GO AWOL we organise and deliver a range of
courses to suit all levels from complete beginners to intermediates that
are looking to hone their skills and take their kitesurfing to the next level.
Interested but have reservations, check out some of the most FAQ’s:
- Do I need to be a strong swimmer – No, your training will take place in a shallow water lagoon, during the training day, the water will always be no deeper than waste height.
- Do I need to be physically strong – No, unlike sports such as windsurfing that require quite a bit of upper body strength, in kitesurfing the harness you wear takes most of the pressure from the kite. It is also important to point out that the kites are incredibly safe and can be depowered very easily making training safe and fast to progress.
- What can I expect from a days training – At GO AWOL, we have developed and run a one day training course that will give you an excellent introduction to kitesurfing. The day course will take you through an introduction to the sport, right through to land based kite training and body dragging in the sea. The one day course will give you everything you need to know about kitesurfing and once sampled we are sure you will be hooked and back for our advanced training days.
- Am I in safe hands? – All GO AWOL activities are run by qualified instructors with many years experience. Our kitesurfing courses are run by IKO and BKSA approved instructors in safe training locations on the South Coast that are best suited for beginners.
