Location

Our outdoor climbing courses are based in Portland, Dorset. This is a superb location either to try out climbing for the first time develop more intermediate or advanced techniques. The rock is white limestone which is nice and grippy and usually has lots of pleasant edges to hold onto. The angle varies dramatically from gentle slabs to steep overhangs depending on your level of skill, strength and confidence.

Portland is the home of Portland stone and the Isle still has active quarries on it. The old quarries and the open sea cliffs make superb climbing venues, and with locations all round the Isle you can usually get out of the wind and into the sunshine somewhere. Once there, with the sun beating down on your back and reflecting off the white stone you'll feel like you're in the Mediterranean.
